1. Welcome to Bush Babies

The bush babies sanctuary is one of several sanctuaries in a group of sanctuaries, including the elephant sanctuary that provides for orphaned and abused animals. Situated west of Hartbeesport Dam alongside the Elephant sanctuary it provides an environment where monkeys (primates) can be given their freedom in a natural environment. The sanctuary situated in one of the many Kloofs (Gorges) of the Magaliesberg mountain range provides the perfect environment for Monkeys from around the world.

      Conscientious conferencing

Bushbabies Monkey Sanctuary – a destination already rich in blessings, has expanded its portfolio. Bushbabies is proud to unveil Baraka, a sophisticated conferencing venue in the heart of the primate forest.

Meaning “blessing”, Baraka integrates lavish comfort and hi-tech conferencing facilities with an authentic African bush experience. Using the forest as a backdrop as well as inspiration in the conception of the Baraka, the venue incorporates a magnificent conferencing hall, dining room, private deck and plunge pool, while being part of a unique free-release 8-hectare primate sanctuary.

Chosen for its respect of the environment and experience in building in tricky locations, it was necessary for Jonk’s Eco Construction to tread gently during construction, so as to disrupt the primates as minimally as possible.

Situated west of Hartbeespoort Dam, the sanctuary provides freedom to primates previously confined to captivity, as well as orphaned or abused animals. The public can observe and learn about the monkeys in their natural habitat, while the animals benefit from a non-interactive and protected, yet still wild environment. Guides lead visitors through the forest on elevated wooden walkways, and provide insight into these incredible creatures.

The unique Baraka Conferencing Package offers a distinctive destination for breakaways, meetings, team-buildings and weddings. In collaboration with its partner and neighbour, The Elephant Sanctuary, packages include the Elephant Experience and Primate Tour, with overnight accommodation being offered at the 4-star Elephant Bush Lodge.

The East-African inspired venue offers perfect privacy in a pristine setting, and can accommodate groups of between 120 and 150. Whether on the timber deck surrounded by the exotic primates in a natural habitat, private dinning in the wine cellar, or a wedding where the ambiance is matched only by world-class service, Baraka will ensure your occasion is richly blessed, and remains a talking-point for years to come.
